What We Believe

THE BIBLE:

The Bible is God’s Word to all people written by human authors that is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Written by the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit, it is the standard of truth which tells the story of God, man, sin, redemption, and reconciliation. Scripture is comprised of 66 books written over a span of 1,500 years and inspired solely by God. Therefore, it is considered the supreme source of truth, without error, and completely relevant today.

Deuteronomy 4:1-2 / Psalm 119:11, 89, & 105 / Proverbs 30:5 / Isaiah 40:8 / John 5:39 / 2 Timothy 3:15-17 / 2 Peter 1:20-21 / Hebrews 1:1-2

THE TRINITY:
God exists as one being in three persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. While each being serves different functions, they individually possess equal power and authority.

Deuteronomy 6:4 / Matthew 28:19Isaiah 61:1 Mark 1:9-11 Luke 1:35John 5:21-23 John 14:10John 14:16 Romans 8:9-11 1 Corinthians 8:6 2 Corinthians 13:14 Hebrews 1:8-10 James 2:19

GOD:
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe and is the perfecter and finisher of life. He exists as three co-equal persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present, never-changing, completely worthy of our trust, and holy. He is our loving Father who is faithful to His people and His promises.

Genesis 1:1 / Genesis 1:26-27 / Genesis 3:22Psalm 90:2Matthew 28:19 / 1 Peter 1:2 2 Corinthians 13:14

JESUS:
Jesus Christ is the Son of God and was present with the Father at creation and had fellowship with Him and The Spirit before man was created. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless human life completely human and also completely God, and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people through His death on the cross. After three days, Jesus rose from the dead, defeating death so that we could have life. He is God’s plan for bringing those who are enemies of God back into a right relationship with Him. Through his substitutionary death, He revealed divine love and upheld divine justice, removing our guilt and reconciling us to God. He ascended to heaven and will return to earth one day to reign as King.

Isaiah 9:6Matthew 1:18-23John 1:1-5Acts 1:9-11 / Romans 1:3-4 Philippians 2:5-11 1 Peter 2:24

HOLY SPIRIT:
Living in every believer from the moment of salvation, The Holy Spirit is the third person of The Trinity and is equal in power and authority with The Father and The Son as God. The Holy Spirit is the source of spiritual understanding and the standard for doing what is right. His presence assures us of our relationship with Christ and guides believers into truth while convicting people of their sin. However, The Holy Spirit does not leave us there; He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and makes us more like Christ.

2 Corinthians 3:17John 16:7-13 / John 14:16-17Acts 1:81 Corinthians 2:121 Corinthians 3:16Ephesians 1:13Galatians 5:25 Ephesians 5:18

HUMANITY:

Humankind was made in the image of God and is the supreme object of God’s creation. We are to be like Him in character and person. Through the Holy Spirit, we are created to be in a perfect relationship with him. Although each person has the potential for good, all are marred by sin against God. We are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through our own efforts, which is why God sent His Son Jesus to take the penalty for our sin so that we may be reconciled with God.

Isaiah 53:6 / Genesis 1:26-30 / Genesis 2:7 / Genesis 2:18-22 / Psalm 8:3-6 / Psalm 32:1-5  / Pslam 51:5 / Isaiah 6:5 / Isaiah 59:1-2 / Jeremiah 17:5 / Acts 17:26-31 / Romans 1:19-32 / Romans 3:10-18 / Romans 3: 22-23 / Romans 5:6 / Romans 6:6 / Romans 7:14-25 / Romans 8:9 / 1 Corinthians 1:21-31 / 1 Corinthians 15:19 / 1 Corinthians 15:21-22Ephesians 2 / Colossians 1:21-22 / Colossians 3:9-11

ETERNITY:

We were created to exist forever, with “forever” being spent in one of two places: heaven or hell. Spending eternity in heaven means being in perfect union with God, while an eternity in hell means being forever separated from God. Heaven and hell are real places.

John 3:16 / 1 John 2:25 / John 5:11-13 / Romans 6:23Revelation 20:15 / 1 Corinthians 2:7-9

SALVATION:

Salvation comes as a result of believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who was crucified, died, and rose from the dead as a sufficient payment for the sins of mankind. Salvation is a free gift from God to all and cannot be earned through our own efforts. It is only by trusting in Jesus Christ that we can be saved from an eternal separation from God. Eternal life begins the moment you receive Jesus Christ into your life through faith.

Romans 6:23 / Ephesians 2:8-10 / John 1:12 / John 3:16 / John 14:16Titus 3:5 / Galatians 3:26Romans 5:1 / Revelation 3:20 / Isaiah 1:18 / Matthew 1:21 Luke 1:68-69 / Acts 2:21Galatians 2:20

THE CHURCH:

The Church is made up of a community of believers who are unified through faith in Jesus Christ; calling sinful people into fellowship. The Church is committed to the teachings of Jesus Christ, which are found in the Bible. Members of the Church seek to share the hope of Christ to the world through love, good deeds, and the message of the Gospel. The Church is not a religious institution or denomination. Rather, the Church, the body of Christ, is made up of those who have become followers of Jesus Christ and exist to worship and serve God by doing His will. All members are to be equipped for ministry to one another and to the world.
